Taxonomic remarks.
The first specimens of
Cercosaura
sp. 2 were only recorded recently (in 2009) and, as the preceding one, it is under study as part of the revision of the genus
Cercosaura
.
Distribution and habitat.
Cercosaura
sp. 2 is endemic to Brazilian
Amazonia
, and until now only known from the Jamanxim river system (
Fig. 9
), state of
Pará
. It is terrestrial and diurnal, inhabits dense ombrophilous terra firme forest, where it is found on the ground (Mendes-Pinto & Souza 2011—identified as
Cercosaura ocellata
).
