Diagnosis.
The angulation of the clypeogenal junction (straight on males, obtuse female)
(
Fig. 1A–B
) and pair of tubercles on the female sixth abdominal sternite (
Fig. 1E
) place this species in the
Dichotomius quadraticeps
species-group (Nunes and Vaz-de-Mello, unpublished data).
Dichotomius aielloae
is separated from other species in this group by the male cephalic carina, which bears a central blade-like horn (ventral view) (
Fig. 1D
).
