Flowers 2-5, magenta with green dots; median sepal narrowly elliptic, 10-12 × 3-4.5 mm , lateral sepals deflexed, lanceolate, 10-12 × 3-5 mm ; petals clawed, lanceolate, ± 10-11 × 3 mm ; lip blade triangular, appendage elliptic ( Figs 1H ; 13A, B ). DISTRIBUTION AND PHENOLOGY. — South Africa (widespread in the Western and ranging into the Eastern Cape ); occurring in both summer- and winter-rainfall regions, in sandy soils in marshy Restio -veld from (20-) 200 to 1050 m . Flowering mainly from November to December, particularly after fire .
