Male. Lectotype in SMT, designated by Pont (2001: 475) . Chile . Diagnosis. Length of body. 5.5 mm (male). Head. Eyes of male separated by a distance similar to the width of the ocellar triangle. Frons brown. Fronto-orbital plate, parafacial and gena grey pruinose. Antenna and arista dark brown; postpedicel with tip rounded. Arista enlarged on basal third. Palpus dark brown. Thorax. Scutum with 3 brown vittae fused postsuturally as far as level of third dorsocentral seta; postpronotum and notopleuron grey dusted.Scutellum dark brown on disc, tip and lateral margins grey dusted. Dorsocentrals 2+4, the 2 anterior postsutural pairs short and fine. Intraalars 1+1. Lower katepisternal closer to the posterior seta. Haltere yellow. Calypters white, tip of the lower one smoky brown. Legs. Fore tibia without a posterior seta. Mid femur with 2 preapical setae. Mid tibia with 1 median posterior seta. Hind femur with a posteroventral row of setae on basal half. Hind tibia with 1 short and fine median anterodorsal and anteroventral setae; without posterodorsal. Arolium and pulvillus enlarged.Wing.Costal spine indistinct.Abdomen. Sternite 1 bare. Remarks. The species can be identified with the key by Stein (1911) .
