Neocompsa aspasia
Martins, 1974: 148
;
Monné, 2021: 547
(cat.).
The description of
Neocompsa aspasia
was based on a single female from
Ecuador
(
Loja
).
Martins (2009)
included it in a key to South American species of
Neocompsa
Martins, 1965
, and recorded the species from
Costa Rica
(
Cartago
). According to
Martins (2009)
,
N. aspasia
differs from the South American species of the genus by having elytra not pubescent, unarmed at apex and with longitudinal whitish bands. In fact, in
N. lenticula
Martins, 1970
, the posterior whitish macula is rounded; and in
N. micromacula
Martins & Galileo, 1999
, the whitish maculae are somewhat small and subelliptical. In Central America, the most similar species with these features is
N. exclamationis
(Thomson, 1860)
, but in this species the posterior whitish band is hook-shaped.
