Diagnosis.
This species is similar to
P.
(
P
.)
gamma
(
Toda & Peng, 1990
)
and to some similar species from southern
China
in the pattern of abdominal tergites, but can be distinguished from them by the aedeagal median rod with single process medially (
Fig. 29
, b) and 1 pair of asymmetric projections subapically (
Fig. 29
, c). In
P. gamma
: aedeagal median rod with small triangular projections only subapically (as in
Toda & Peng, 1990
;
Fig. 6
).
Description.
Frons brown, with triangular, dark patch above and a few thin, sparse interfrontal setae. Pedicel and first flagellomere grayish yellow. Face brownish, with yellowish white patches on lower corners. Clypeus white medially, dark brown laterally. Thorax orange yellow, with grayish black patches and pollinose pattern. Scutellum orange yellow, with brown patch medially, yellowish white on tip. Legs yellow, mostly brown on all femora, with 3 dark rings on each tibia. Abdominal first to fifth tergites yellow; second tergite with 2 dark patches each side (submedially and laterally); third to fifth tergites each with medially and laterally slightly protruded, brown band on posterior margin and 1 small yellow patch on each lateral margin; sixth tergite extended below at posterolateral corners (see
Fig.
11
in
Chen
et al.
, 2007
), nearly entirely dark brown except yellow medial line. Male terminalia: Epandrium pubescent anteroventrally, with ca. 9 setae on dorsal to posterolateral portion each side (
Fig. 26
). Surstylus lacking pubescence, with several wedge-shaped prensisetae on apical margin of inner surface (
Fig. 26
). Additional plate between cerci and tenth sternite pubescent (
Fig. 27
). Posterolateral lobe of hypandrium large, lacking pubescence (
Fig. 28
). Paramere lacking pubescence; apical process with 3 teeth and 1 sensillum; median process triangular; proximal process slender, with 1 sensillum (
Fig. 28
). Vertical process of gonopods nearly triangular, lobe-like (
Fig. 28
). Aedeagus with 1 pair of looped bridges basally (
Fig. 28
, d); median rod subbasally with 1 pair of small processes (
Fig. 29
, a); outer membranous tube convoluted apically, with transparent minute spinules subapically and basally (
Fig. 28
).
