Holotype , of Stypommisa ( Styphocera ) antennina PERU , Huánuco , Department Huánuco, deposited in the Cornell University Insect Collection ( CUIC ) No. 6747 ( CUIC 000058931 ), labeled as follows: “Huanuco, PERU, 17 Sept. 1954 , 7,500 ft” [white label with handwritten data]; “Holotype” “ Stypommisa ( Styphocera ) antennina n.sp. , Det. C.B. Philip 69 [red label with handwritten data] ( Fig. 1A ). The holotype is partly damaged. The head is detached, both basal flagellomeres are lost, and the one remaining wing is partially destroyed. The anterior legs are missing, and some of the legs lack tarsal segments. Basal callus dark brown, triangular with median dorsal projection reaching half the height of the frons. Ocellar triangle and ocelli vestigial. Scape of antenna subcylindrical, 2.5 times the length of pedicel; basal flagellomere indistinctly triannulated. Palpus slightly tapering distally and widening proximally, three-quarters the length of the proboscis. Mesonotum with dark brown integument, bearing sparse medium dark brown setulae. Wings slightly smoky, with dark brown clouds on the crossveins. Abdomen dark brown dorsally, distal margin of tergites lighter, sternites lighter yet. Head. Eyes dark brown with long, sparse ommatrichia. Frons moderately wide and divergent towards subcallus, with brownish pruinescence and with long brownish setulae ( Fig. 1B ); frontal index 1.7. Vertex with brownish pruinescence and long black setulae. Basal callus dark brown, triangular, with median dorsal projection reaching half the height of frons, touching subcallus but not touching eyes ( Fig. 1B ). Ocellar triangle and ocelli vestigial.
