Gambusia affinis
(
Baird & Girard, 1853
)
Remarks:
A major
effort to breed
Gambusia
was implemented during
1971–1979 in
Afghanistan
. Fish were reared in artificial ponds based on natural springs near the cities of Qonduz, Mazar,
Faryab
,
Kabul
, Lashkar Gah, and Jalalabad and transported to rice farms and stagnant waters. For example, fish listed as
Gambusia affinis
(but probably
Gambusia holbrooki
)
Coad (2014)
.
