It is recorded from Canada , USA (including Alaska ), Mexico , continental Central America, Antilles, Colombia , Venezuela , Guyana , Brazil [AM, PE (Fernando de Noronha), MG, MS, ES, RJ], Ecuador , Peru , Bolivia , Paraguay and Argentina ( Kirby 1890 ; Drake and Plaumann 1953 ; Drake and Hussey 1955 ; Froeschner 1981 ; Nieser and Melo 1997 ; Maw et al. 2000 ; Ribeiro et al. forthcoming). Nieser and Melo (1997) had already reported the species from Espírito Santo State, but without mentioning a specific locality.
