Diagnosis.
Gastrozona soror
is similar to
G. nigrifemur
sp. nov.
and
G. fasciventris
in general body colouration and wing pattern. It can be distinguished from
G. nigrifemur
by the presence of lateral postsutural yellow vittae in both sexes and narrow anterior apical band not fully covering cell r4+5 and by the spicules of eversible membrane with 2̄3 medial long projections and 4̄5 small lateral projections, unlike the single long medial projection in
G. nigrifemur
. It differs from
G. fasciventris
by wing pattern, the posterior apical band separate from the anterior apical band and directed towards the subapical band. It can be differentiated from both species by the oblique wing band from the pterostigma being parallel to the radial-medial band and not sharply incurved towards the wing base. Female genitalia: Oviscape black,
1.35 mm
long, taenia
0.92 mm
long, eversible membrane
1.57 mm
long, spicules sclerotised at proximal end with single broad conical projection, hyaline spicules at distal end of eversible membrane with 2̄3 medial long projections and 4̄5 small lateral projections, aculeus (
1.50 mm
long) tip trilobed with 4 pairs of preapical setae, preapical steps and smooth lateral margins; two black, club shaped spermathecae with apical papilla.
