Martins & Galileo (2007) revised the genus and provided a key to species. According to Martins (2007) , Ophtalmibidion is characterized by the strong posterior constriction of the head, anterior to prothorax, eyes lobes divided, flagellomeres not widened in the antennae of males, and apices of metafemora disarmed.
