Notes

Haines (1914)
described
Andropogon grahamii
on the basis of a single collection from the Lormi Forest, Amakantak Hills [Amarkantak],
Central province
[
Madhya Pradesh
]. With reference to the details in the protologue, two duplicates of the collection
Haines 3646
were located at K. The herbarium sheet (K000245672) is a complete specimen possessing roots, culms, leaves, branches and the inflorescence with an additional illustration and short description probably by Haines in his own handwriting. The specimen on the other sheet (K000245671) lacks the lower portion. This specimen also bears pencil sketches of the parts of the sessile and pedicelled spikelets and short description of these structures probably by Haines. According to Art. 9.6 of the Schenzen Code (
Turland
et al.
2018
), all the cited specimens in the protologue are
syntypes
. The best complete specimen having additional illustration on the herbarium sheet made by Haines housed at K (barcode K000245672) is designated here as the
lectotype
.
