The individuals of this species inhabiting
Baja California
exhibit the coloration pattern of
Bombus californicus
. However, due to the lack of evidence supporting its status as a distinct species, we follow the treatment of
Williams
et al
. (2014)
.
Bombus fervidus
is categorized as vulnerable on the IUCN Red List (
IUCN 2022
). This species has been reported in the Coastal Sage Matorral, Chaparral, and
Baja California
Mountains with vouchered specimens in LACM, UCRC, SEMC (
GBIF 2023
). During this project, it has been recorded exclusively in the Coastal Sage Matorral in
April and May 2021
; and
May 2022
. Voucher specimens are in MABC (
