Type species by original designation: Guithera ( Proguithera ) drescheri Wygodzinsky, 1966 . As subgenus of Guithera Distant, 1906 . Proguithera : Dispons (1970: 220 , 223) (upgraded to generic level), Maldonado-Capriles (1990: 102) (catalogue), Rédei (2004: 308 , 314) (systematic relationship, key), Aukema et al. (2013: 107) (catalogue, Palearctic), Ishikawa & Naka (2016: 185 , 191) (diagnosis, key). Diagnosis. Proguithera is similar to the genera Guithera and Lutevula Breddin, 1909 , but can be differentiated by the two-segmented fore tarsus nearly as long as the fore tibia. For detailed diagnostic characters of Proguithera , see Ishikawa & Naka (2016) . Diversity and distribution. Four species, of which three ( P. caspersi sp. nov. , P. drescheri and P. kiinugama ) are known from the Oriental Region, another species ( P. inexpectata ) is distributed in the southern Palearctic Region ( Fig. 34 ).
