Mites of the genera Pulaeus and Lupaeus (Acari: Prostigmata: Cunaxidae) of Crimea, Ukraine Author Sergeyenko, Alexey L. text Zootaxa 2011 3088 54 68 journal article 46064 10.5281/zenodo.205315 b8a4fab6-5bb5-4b60-b087-5f5cca903928 1175-5326 205315 Pulaeus maslovi sp. nov. Female ( Figs. 10–18 ). Gnathosoma ( Figs. 10–12 ). The chaetotaxy of the subcapitulum ( Fig. 10 ) is the same as in P . leonidi sp. nov. Ventral surface of the subcapitulum in the area of setae hg4 with transverse rows of lobes which laterally and anteriorly replaced by papillae reaching nearly to setae hg2 . Anteriad to hg3 a few longitudinal weak striae are present and oriented towards hg2 . Dorsal surface of coxal region papillated. Dorsal surface of the first and proximal two thirds of second segment of chelicerae with papillae ( Fig. 11 ). Cheliceral seta present. Surface of palps almost smooth except proximal dorsal half of second segment covered by papillae ( Fig. 12 ). The chaetotaxy of palps as in P . leonidi sp. nov. Idiosomal dorsum ( Fig. 13 ). The chaetotaxy as in P . leonidi sp. nov. Entire surface of dorsal idiosomal shield bearing transverse rows of lobes. Setae f1 and f2 on each side are situated on sclerotized common platelet without lobes and with distinct borders. Setae h1 and h2 are situated on different sclerotized platelets. The length of each simple seta on shield is shorter than distance between its base to base of the nearest seta. Setae ve , f1 and h1 are the longest among simple dorsal idiosomal setae. Their length is about 1.3-1.7 times longer than sci , c1-2 , d1 , e1 and h2 which are subequal. Setae f1 is about 1.7-1.8 times longer than f2 . Dorsal cuticle with clear, long and smooth striae, except small papillated area anterior to anal opening between setae h1 . Idiosomal venter ( Fig. 14 ). The borders of coxal plates are distinct ( Fig. 5 ). The propodosomal coxal plates are medially completely divided. Each coxal plate with 6 setae. A peg-like seta on the dorsal part of coxae I present. Genital valves with longitudinal rows of lobes. Genital setae ( g1–4 ) subequal in length. Setae g3 situated slightly laterally to row of setae g1–2 and g4 . The genital papillae are well-developed. Venter with 5 pairs of setae between hysterogastral coxal plates (excepting setae on coxal plates and genital valves). Integumental striae smooth, except small areas posterior and anterior to genital opening with numerous papillae. Legs ( Figs. 15–18 ). Leg chaetotaxy: trochanters I–IV: 1—1—2—1 sts ; basifemora I–IV, 4—6—3—2 sts ; telofemora I–IV, 5—5—4—3 sts ; genua I–IV, {1 asl , 1 sts }, 2 asl , 4 sts —1 asl , 5 sts —1 asl , 5 sts —1 asl , 5 sts ; tibiae I–IV, 1 asl , 1 bsl , 5 sts —1 bsl , 5 sts —1 bsl , 5 sts —1 T , 4 sts ; tarsi I–IV, 3 bsl , 1 dep , 1 dtsl , 2 tsl , 21 sts —1 bsl , 1 dtsl , 1 tsl , 20 sts —1 tsl , 16 sts —17 sts . Leg surface with papillae, which are dorsally larger but sparser. Measurements . Length of idiosoma 300 (290); width 195 (180). Length of hypognathum 110 (110); width 90 (95). Length of palps 70 (72). Chelicerae 100 (105). Length of dorsal idiosomal shield 215 (215); width 338 (342). Legs: I 200 (195); II 180 (180); III 205 (208); IV 225 (230). Length of setae: ve 30 (33); sci 25 (25); c1 20 (23); c2 20 (19); d1 22 (24); e1 23 (24); f1 30 (33); f2 18 (18); h1 30 (30); h2 22 (22); g 1–4 14–15 (11–13). Distance between setae: ve–ve 68 (67); sci–sci 60 (63); c1–c1 44 (50); c1–c2 36 (36); d1–d1 54 (58); e1– e1 38 (43). Male and immatures unknown. Etymology. The new species is named after specialist in algology, Dr Ivan Maslov (Nikita Botanical Gardens- National Scientific Center). Differential diagnosis. This new species closely resembles P . glebulentus Den Heyer, 1980 but it differs from the latter by subequal solenidia on the tibia of legs I (the distal solenidion noticeably shorter than proximal one in P . glebulentus ). Also, the area of striation with papillae on the idiosomal dorsum of the new species is much smaller than in P . glebulentus . Type material. Female holotype , Ukraine , Crimea, “Cape Martyan” Nature Reserve, litter under Juniperus excels a Bieb, 12.VI.2001 (Coll. Sergeyenko, A.L.). Paratypes : 1 Ƥ, Ukraine , Crimea, Tyuptarkhan peninsula, in soil under wormwood, 20.VI.2004 (Coll. Sergeyenko, A.L.).
