Many are attracted to dung of various animal origin. Since the publication of the checklist (Belcari et al. 1995) and a comprehensive study of this family by Rivosecchi (1995) , two papers ( Kameneva 2007 ; Morgulis et al. 2013 ) added new records and one new species to the previously listed single species of Herina Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 from Sicily . The list is brought up to date below and a genus and species new for Sicily is added.
