SYNONYMS: adspersus , inferior. COMMENTS: Recognized as a distinct species in the Rattus chrysocomus Group " by Tate (1936); placed in the " chrysocomus group " of Rattus by Ellerman (1941) then in the coelestis group" of Rattus by Ellerman (1949a) ; treated as a species in subgenus Rattus by Laurie and Hill (1954) ; but included in Bunomys by Musser (1981 c) and Musser and Newcomb (1983) . In morphology and pelage features, B. andrewsi is most closely related to B. fratrorum of the NW peninsula and B. heinrichi in the SW arm of Sulawesi .
