; treated as a species in subgenus
Rattus

Laurie and Hill (1954)
; but included in
Bunomys
by
Musser (1981 c)
and
Musser and Newcomb (1983)
. In morphology and pelage features, B.
andrewsi
is most closely related to
B. fratrorum of
the NW peninsula and B.
heinrichi
in the SW arm of
Sulawesi
