Typification of thirty-two names given by Alexis Jordan in the genus Biscutella (Brassicaceae) Author Thiebaut, Melanie Herbier de l’Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, CERESE (Centre de Ressources pour les Sciences de l’Evolution), 9 rue Dubois, 69622 Villeurbanne cedex, France. (1864: 313) . Ind. loc.: “Sud de la France ; Nîmes (Gard)ˮ. Neotype (designated here):— FRANCE . “ Biscutella ambigua DC. , B. mediterranea Jord., Gdgr Cruc . n. 4944, Rochers de St Tronc près Marseille (Bouches du Rhône), 1 avril 1849 E . Cornazˮ (handwriting) det. M . Gandoger ( LY0003583 ). = Biscutella lima Rchb. Note: no sheet identified by A. Jordan could be found for this species in the numerous collections studied. As this group is endemic and vicarious, the selected neotype (Marseille) belongs in A. Jordan’s point of view to B. stricta and not to B. mediterranea . However, French populations from Mesomediterranean level being morphologically homogenous at least from Narbonne to Toulon, one can reasonably follow M. Gandoger and admit this typification as consistent in practice, although it is not, according to the ideas of the author.
