Note.Schumacher (1913)
characterized his new variety,
viridescens
, by body of grey-green ground colour with fine, black, only slightly prominent punctures; body venter and legs mostly grey-green; basal angles of scutellum with one much smaller grey-green callosity. The nominotypical form has body of grey-yellow ground colour with prominent punctures and callosities in basal angles of scutellum larger (
Schumacher 1913
). The variety
viridescens
was described from two localities in Northern Cape province of
South Africa
, however,
Schumacher (1913)
noted that also the nominotypical form occurs in Cape Colony. Considering the examined specimens,
var.
viridescens
fits within the infraspecific variability of
A. vittatus
; e.g., the sample of specimens from the locality ‘
47 km
N of Kimberley’ included a specimen with inconspicous puncturation, appearing pale yellowish, as well as dark appearing specimens with prominent black puncturation. Considering all the evidence, we propose the following new synonymy:
Andocidesvittaticeps
(Stål, 1853)
