(Figs 11–12) Carchesiopygus lobacanthus Schedl, 1969 : 59 . Crossotarsus lobacanthurus Beeson, 1941 : 330 . Nomen nudum . Carchesiopygus lobacanthurus Schedl, 1970 : 231 . Unjustified emendation. Taxonomy. The male holotype and female allotype are inaccessible (IFRI). However, Schedl provided a clear description of the species, and in addition, we have examined a drawing of the elytral declivity (NMW) made by Schedl from the holotype . The specimens from Laos and Thailand (see below) agree with both Beeson’s description and the drawing. The species is clearly related to Platypus lewisi and P. psilacanthurus . It has the characters of Platypus , not Carchesiopygus , and is here transferred to Platypus . Distribution. India (Uttarakhand), Laos , Thailand . New records. LAOS , NE, Hua Phan prov., Ban Saluei, Phou Pan (Mt.), 20o12'N , 104o01'E , 1300–1900m , 7.iv.–25.v.2010 (C. Recorded from Quercus incana (Fagaceae) ( Beeson 1941 ), and from an unidentified tree of the same family (see above).
