Stems twining, 2–5 mm in diameter, pubescent or more rarely glabrescent; Leaves opposite, petiolate; petiole 0.1–4.5 cm long, pubescent or glabrescent, lamina elliptic, ovate, oblong or lanceolate, pubescent or glabrescent, basal colleters present; base cordate to acute; apex acuminate, acute, cuspidate or caudate; venation pinnate. Inflorescences extra-axillary, racemiform, simple or branched 2–4 times; peduncle (0–) 1–18 cm long, pubescent or glabrescent. Pedicel 0.3–4 cm long, pubescent or glabrescent. Calyx lobes triangular, oblong, ovate or lanceolate, 2.5–30 × 1–8 mm , pubescent or glabrescent; calycine colleters present or absent. Corolla lobes contorted in bud. Corolla salverform, tube 0.5–5 cm long, inside at the base with 5 patches of dense brown trichomes, the upper part of the tube sparsely pubescent or glabrescent, outside glabrescent or pubescent; lobes linear, lanceolate, elliptic or ovate, 6–30 × 1–11 mm , base symmetrical or asymmetrical. Corona staminal absent or much reduced, if present lobes ovate, adnate to the back of the anthers. Gynostegium conical. Pollinia erect, oblong or clavate; caudicle filiform, hyaline; corpusculum oblong or ovate. Anther appendages erect, hyaline, covering the style head. Style head conical or umbonate. Ovary bicarpellate, carpels ovate, conical or oblong, glabrous or pubescent. Fruit a single or paired follicle, 10–25 × 2.5–4 cm , glabrous, seed ovate, 13–26 × 4–9 mm , comose at germinating end or not comose.
