(2003 , 2014) listed Ixodes mexicanus as occurring in the Nearctic Region , while Clifford et al. (1973) and Camicas et al. (1998) considered it to be a Neotropical species. Guglielmone et al. (2020) later reevaluated the geographic distribution of Ixodes mexicanus , ultimately agreeing with Clifford et al. (1973) and Camicas et al. (1998) .
