Head : Vertex covered with decumbent scales; with a central stripe of dark scales and a lateral stripe of pale yellow scales on either side ( Fig. 9b ); antenna approximately 0.8–0.9 length of forefemur; maxillary palpus about 0.16 length of proboscis; clypeus without scales and setae. Thorax : Antepronotum covered with broad white scales; scutum with 2 dorsocentral stripes ( 4 in total) of golden-yellow scales; stripe of broad white scales on antealar area ( Fig. 9b ); pleura with patches of white scales on proepimeral, proepisternal, subspiracular, postspiracular (on upper part), prealar, upper mesokatepisternal (partially divided), lower mesokatepisternal, upper mesepimeral, lower mesepimeral and mesomeral areas ( Fig. 9a ). Legs : Fore- and midtarsomere 1 and hindtarsomeres 1 and 2 with basal bands of white scales ( Fig. 10a, b , respectively); mid- and hindfemora with a spot of white scales beyond middle and at the apex ( Fig. 10c ). Abdomen : Terga III–VI usually with basal bands of white scales; tergum VI with a small inverted triangular patch of white scales. Bionomics . Pupa collected from a hollow in a species of Quercus . Distribution . Aedes guatemala has been recorded in Guatemala ( Berlin 1969 ; Clark-Gil & Darsie 1983 ) and Mexico : Chiapas , Puebla ( Hernández-Triana et al . 2021 ; Viveros-Santos et al . 2022 ; this study). Material examined . 1♀ Pe, MEXICO : Puebla , Amozoc, State Park General Lázaro Cárdenas del Río “Flor del Bosque”, Quercus forest ( 19° 01′ 20′′ N , 98° 06′ 46′ W), 2,408 m a.s.l., water accumulated in a hollow of a Quercus species , 28 September 2018 .
