Diagnosis : One pair of barbels, last unbranched dorsal fin ray thick and serrated, 24–25 small rakers on first gill arch, usually 54–63 scales on lateral line, commonly 9 branched dorsal fin rays, mouth with horny cutting edge on lower jaw.
