Diagnosis
: One pair of barbels, last unbranched dorsal fin ray thick and serrated, 24–25 small rakers on first gill arch, usually 54–63 scales on lateral line, commonly 9 branched dorsal fin rays, mouth with horny cutting edge on lower jaw.
Meristic characters
: D: IV 8–9 (8), A: III 5, P: 15–19 (17), V: 8, GR: 24–25, LL: 52–60, TV: 46–48 (47).
