Garcinia oleosperma P.W.Sweeney
nom. nov.
Allanblackia floribunda
Oliv., J. Linn. Soc., Bot. 10: 43 (1867). Type. Cameroon: Cameroon River,
Mann 2193
.
Note.
A replacement name,
Garcinia oleosperma
, is created here for the type species (
A. floribunda
) of the genus
Allanblackia
, because the epithet
Garcinia floribunda
was used previously in
Garcinia
for a different species. The epithet
Garcinia oleosperma
is in reference to the seeds that have a high oil content and are an important source of vegetable oil in tropical western Africa (
Crockett 2015
).
