– This species is found in Amazonian
Brazil
,
Colombia
,
Ecuador
,
Peru
, and
Bolivia
and also is disjunct in
Suriname
(
TAYLOR, 2005
). DELPRETE & KIRKBRIDE (2015) reported that this species is “widespread in South America”, but it may be restricted to the western Amazon basin. The
Suriname
plants are only known in immature fruit, and are included in this species provisionally. These have smaller inflorescences as well as a markedly disjunct distribution, and probably deserve re-evaluation as to their species identity.
