Diagnosis: This species can be separated from most congeneric species by the presence of cone-shaped tubercles on the posterior corners of the carapace. There are three other Opopaea species ( O. diaoluoshan sp. nov. , O. gibbifera Tong & Li, 2008 and O. vitrispina sp. nov. ) with similar characters. O. cornuta can be distinguished from them by the following characters: large tubercles on carapace (compare Figs 1I –L ), clypeus height about 2.5 times of ALE diameter ( Figs 1B, K ), epigastric area of female with a dark spot on postgynal plate ( Fig. 2D ) and outgrowths on male palpal embolus ( Figs 2A, B ). Distribution: China (Hainan, Hunan and Yunnan ( type locality), Zhejiang) (Map 1). MAP 1. Distribution of Opopaea cornuta Yin & Wang, 1984 in China .
