D e s c r i p t i o n:
Body length
12-16 mm
. Flagellum with 42 (specimen from
Nepal
) or 45 (specimen from
Vietnam
) flagellomeres, completely black, without whitish ring, first flagellomere about 3.5 to 3.9 times longer than wide, the 14th or 16th flagellomere square. Area superomedia about 1.3 times as long as wide. Ivory are the orbits beneath the flagellar scrobes, longitudinal stripe at malar space, apical spot of femora I and tibia I anterior. Otherwise as described for
Lamprojoppa
caerula
CAMERON (TERESHKIN 2009: 1512-1513).
D i s t r i b u t i o n: Known from
India
and
Myanmar
, new records for
Nepal
and
Vietnam
.
Taxonomical remark: The available specimens differ from
Lamprojoppa
caerula
CAMERON by their black flagellum and slenderer first flagellomere. The black flagellum had also been noted for
Lamprojoppa fuscinerva
CAMERON
by HEINRICH (1974: 10). However, the ivory pattern on the orbits is more extensive than in the
type
specimen (HEINRICH 1974: 10, the
type
could not been studied by me). According to HEINRICH (1974: 113) this group of large, blue-metallic coloured
Platylabini
contains several closely related species that have not been studied in detail yet. Therefore, it might be possible that these specimens belong to undescribed taxa of
Lamprojoppa
.
