Comments.
Based on a single forewing,
Kubekius
is distinguished by the paucity of crossveins, especially the lack of any gradate series in the radial field. Only
Sinosmylus
is similar in this lack of radial crossveins, although this genus retains two gradate series. According to
Khramov (2017)
the absence of crossveins gradates series in the wing of
Kubekius
, plus the straight branches of RP are evidence of a primitive state. However, the highly pectinate CuP differs from that found in
Archeosmylidae
. At present,
Kubekius
cannot be assigned to any of known
subfamilies of
Osmylidae
.
