Acervus globulosus
is distinguished by sessile, discoid, yellow apothecia with subcylindrical paraphyses and ellipsoid ascospores, and an excipulum composed of
textura globulosa
cells.
Acervus globulosus
differs from all the other species in the genus in the ectal excipulum cell
type
(

).
