Taxonomic remarks
The
type
is from
Myanmar
from sandstone hills opposite ‘Akyab’ (now Sittwe) which is on the coast, on terrain unlike that of the Mizoram and Tripura localities. The two specimens in the Calcutta herbarium from the study area have not been verified by the authors. This species is similar to
B. wengeri
but differs by having descending wings on its fruit, which are shown nicely in
Clarke (1881)
. It is possible the two specimens listed are in fact
B. wengeri
as they are very similar looking without fruit or flowers to help distinguish – see under
B. wengeri
for more information.
