Distribution and habitat.
Marinussaurus curupira
is endemic to Brazilian
Amazonia
, and until now only known from the municipally of Iranduba, state of
Amazonas
, just west of the confluence of Solimões and Negro Rivers (
Fig. 12
). It is terrestrial and diurnal, inhabits the leaf litter of terra firme forest (personal communication with V. Carvalho).
