The
type
specimen of
B. asperatus
is a male, while those of
B. fuscipictus
and
B. terricola
are females. Many of the characters that Broun used to separate the nominal taxa (including elytral breadth and convexity of the elytral disc) are sexually dimorphic in this species. The
type
specimen of
B. fuscipictus
is a more abraded specimen than the
type
of
B. terricola
.
