Holotype , male in CMNC . Labeled Guatemala : Sacatepéquez / 5km SE Antigua / 14.528 46 N, - 90.68874 W / 2335m , 10–13.VI.2009 , / oak forest, FIT / LLAMA Ft-B-08-2-01”. Paratypes (3): Same data as holotype ( 1 female ); same data except “14.528 60 N, - 90.68885 W / 2330m / LLAMA FT-B-08-2 - 02 ” ( 2 males ) . Diagnostic Description. Body color brown, head and elytral apices darker. Antenna elongate, length about equal to pronotal length; antennomere 5 subequal to 4, width less than 2X length. Submentum irregularly, coarsely punctate. Pronotal disk coarsely, densely punctate; punctures in irregular longitudinal rows, separated by narrow, smooth areas; basal angles obtuse, narrowly rounded. Protarsi dilated in both sexes and larger apical protibial spur ( Fig. 10 ) with 4 pairs of lateral serrae (saw-like teeth). Male protibia straight, stout, widening evenly to apex; metatibia straight, with small tooth before apex of posterior margin. Aedeagus ( Figs. 11, 12 ) elongate; basal bulb evenly oval, lacking left apical indentation; parameres weakly curved before middle in dorsal view, then straight with lobed apices; large patch of densely spaced, long setae on basal half, single strong seta mesad each paramere base, and single short setae at lobed apices; parameres broad basally in lateral view, evenly narrowing to apices, with small patch of fine setae at base and short, scattered setae ventrolaterally; paired, spoonshaped structures broad with truncate apices. This species can be distinguished from C. hondurensis as follows: (1) antennae elongate with antennomere 5 subequal to 4 ( C . hondurensis antennae short with antennomere 5 about 2X as wide as long); (2) larger apical protibial spur shorter ( Fig. 10 ), with four pairs of lateral serrae (spurs longer in C. hondurensis ( Fig. 9 ), with six pairs of lateral serrae); (3) basal bulb of aedeagus ( Figs. 11, 12 ) lacking left apical indentation (present in C . hondurensis ) ; (4) parameres straight with apical lobes (parameres incurved apically, not lobed in C. hondurensis ); (5) paired, spoon-shaped structures of aedeagus with truncate apices (apices elongate, narrow in C . hondurensis ). Etymology. This species is dedicated to the Rev. Andrew Matthews, who prepared the Silphidae section of the “ Biologia ”.
