Diagnosis
. Despite its similarity with
Andrenosoma albibarbe
and
Andrenosoma bayardi
, the characteristics of male terminalia led us to confirm it as a valid species.
Description
. Medium size species (14 ̶
17 mm
), black and scarcely pilose.
Head
. Face, facial gibbosity and beard with white setae. Antennae with strong black setae.
Thorax
with black or white setae dorsally and long, strong, black, long setae laterally.
Wings.
First posterior cell open at wing margin (
Fig. 5
a).
Abdomen.
Tergites IV ̶VII are red medially. Black legs with white setae, most abundant on the coxae. Bright black male terminalia with gonostylus with a toothed blade on superior edge (
Fig. 5
b).
Variability.
Some specimens with black and white setae on facial gibbosity.
Biology and ecology. Flight period from April to June. They perchin sunny forest clearings, mainly pine woods, between
800m
and
1500 m
above sea level.
