Recorded damage and economic importance in the orchards of
Iran
:
Considering two species (
Cicadatra alhageos
and
Chloropsalta ochreata
) as “grape cicadas" in
Iran
,
Chloropsalta smaragdula
was introduced as the third species of grape cicada by
Aghagoli Marzijarani
et al
. (2013)
. There isn’t any record on the injury level caused by this species.
Recorded damage in the orchards of other parts of the world:
Not recorded.
Recorded distribution in Iran:
Generally distributed.
Conclusion:
Due to the extreme similarity of the habitus of the three cicadas in vineyards of Iran (
Cicadatra alhageos
,
Chloropsalta ochreata
and
Chloropsalta smaragdula
), it is quite necessary to determine the damage level caused by the species after the correct identification.
