Sarcopterus longipilis Banks, 1905b : 135 . Hosts and distribution . Loxia sp. ( Passeriformes : Fringillidae ) from USA (Washington) ( Banks 1905a , b ). The only species of the genus Loxia occurring in Washington is Loxia curvirostra ( Clements et al . 2014 ) . Remarks . Fain (1995) considered Harpyrhynchoides longipilus as species incertae sedis in the subfamily Harpirhynchinae. Its original description allows including this species to the genus Harpyrhynchoides ; however, is not enough sufficient to differ it from other congeners. This species could be a senior synonym of Harpyrhynchoides brevis (see remarks to this species).
