Small to medium-size Coronatella , maximum length of adult female from 0.25 to 0.6 mm . Sculpture of valves as sparsely spaced lines or tubercles. Posteroventral angle of valves with uniform setulae, or with groups of differentiated setulae, or with 1-4 denticles. Seta arising from basal segment of antennal endopodite thin, shorter than endopodite itself, or absent. Accessory seta of limb I very short, about 1/3 length of ODL seta. Setae 2-3 of IDL armed with thick spinules; distal spinules frequently transformed into spines thicker than other elements. Exopodite of limb II with well-developed seta, except in C. (C.) undata . Type species Alona rectangula Sars, 1861
