The specific name ‘ irritator ’ is preoccupied by Ichneumon irritator Fabricius, 1775 , hence a replacement name, ‘ lissolaba ’, was proposed for Smith’s ‘ irritator ’ by Townes et al. (1965) . Heinrich (1937) transferred this species to Melanichneumon , but Townes et al. (1965) to Vulgichneumon Heinrich, 1961 . Current taxonomy.
