Etymology. The name refers to the native ethnic group Puri , who used to live in Mantiqueira Mountains, type locality of the species. It is to be treated as a noun in apposition. Diagnostic characters. The species can be separated from other Polypedilum ( Pentapedilum ) species by having about ten macrotrichia on wing membrane, only in cells m1+2 and m3+4. The combination of narrow anal point, foretibial scale without spur, low antennal ratio, cubital and anal veins bare will also help on recognizing this species. Description. Male (n = 1–2). Remarks. P. ( Pe. ) puri sp. n. is the third Pentapedilum species recorded in Neotropical region and it has a distinct distribution pattern of macrotrichia on wing membrane, i. e. , about ten macrotrichia are found only in cells m1+2 and m3+4, instead of numerous macrotrichia distributed in at least three cells. The new species are from the same type locality of P. camposense – Campos do Jordão State Park, in Mantiqueira Mountains from Southeastern Brazil . Distribution. The species is known from São Paulo State, southeastern Brazil .
