Spiophanes bombyx (
Claparede
, 1870)
Notes
Species complex. At least four morphologically similar species exist (
Meissner
and Blank 2009
). All forms currently known have been formally described as different species in recent years. Specimens from the Turkish Aegean were studied by
Meissner
and Blank (2009)
and found to belong to
Spiophanes bombyx
, thus it can be assumed that at least some of the Greek material belongs to
Spiophanes bombyx
sensu stricto. Type locality: Mediterranean (Gulf of Naples).
