( Figs 1 , 14–17 ) Diagnosis. Aedeagus ( Figs 15, 16 ) slightly curved dorsally, lateroventral processes extending approximately as far posteriorly as shaft apex, median ventral process short, extending approximately as far posteriorly as shaft apex or slightly exceeding it. Processes of dorsal apodemes of aedeagus ( Fig. 16 ) short and spiniform. Length. Male holotype , 17.4 mm ; male paratype , 17.8 mm ; female paratypes , 17.8– 18.4 mm . Male holotype . Head triangular and well produced anteriorly; anterior margin angulate and carinate medially at transition to face. Crown, in dorsal view, with shallow median longitudinal fovea expanded apically; ocelli approximately on imaginary line between anterior eye angles, each ocellus about equidistant from adjacent eye angle and median line of crown. Antennal ledges, in dorsal view, bordered internally by faint carina. Frons flattened medially; disc slightly concave on superior portion; muscle impressions distinct. Epistomal suture obsolete. Clypeus, in lateral view, protuberant and angulate. FIGURES 2–8. Desamera eliasi sp. nov. (2–4) Female paratype: (2) crown and pronotum, dorsal view; (3) head, frontal view; (4) right forewing. (5–8) Male holotype: (5) pygofer and subgenital plate, lateral view; (6) left subgenital plate, ventral view; (7) connective and right style, dorsal view; (8) aedeagus and anal tube, lateral view. FIGURES 9–13. Desamera eliasi sp. nov. , female paratype. (9) Abdominal sternite VII, ventral view, slightly elevated posteriorly to show median dorsal fold; (10) pygofer, lateral view; (11) second valvula of ovipositor, general lateral view; (12) apical portion of second valvula, lateral view; (13) teeth on apical portion of second valvula. De: denticle, df: dorsal fold, du: duct, ra: ramus, to: tooth. Pronotum with width less than transocular width; lateral margins approximately parallel; lateral portions with pair of elongate transverse shallow depressions; disc transversely striate on posterior twothirds; dorsopleural carinae complete, declivous anteriorly, slightly sinuous; posterior pronotal margin distinctly concave medially. Mesonotum slightly striate behind transverse sulcus. Forewings with membrane indistinct, veins elevated and distinct, with five apical cells and three closed anteapical cells, very few supernumerary veins on anteapical cells and first apical cell. Hindwings with vein R2+3 incomplete. Posterior meron exposed. Hindlegs with femoral setal formula 2:0:0; length of first tarsomere smaller than combined length of second and third tarsomeres. FIGURES 14–17. Desamera paraensis sp. nov. (14–15) Male holotype: (14) connective and right style, dorsal view; (15) aedeagus, lateral view. (16) Male paratype: aedeagus and anal tube, lateral view. (17) Female paratype: abdominal sternite VII, ventral view. Color of head mostly yellow; crown with large dark brown to black macula restricted to interocelar area on basal portion, delimiting median yellow macula, and expanded apically, forming laterally pair of stripes that extend over muscle impressions of frons; ventral portion of frons with broad transverse black stripe; clypeus dark brown to black with pair of laterobasal yellow maculae; rostrum yellow with apical portion dark brown; few small dark brown or black marks also present on head surface. Pronotum mostly dark brown to black; disc with small yellow maculae; lateral pronotal lobes yellow with dark brown inferior tip. Mesonotum mostly dark brown, except small apical yellow area on scutellum. Forewings mostly brown with yellow and greenishyellow maculae; veins dark brown. Anepisternum with broad black stripe anteriorly, posteroventral margin bordered by dark brown; katepisternum with large dark brown area delimiting yellow anterolateral macula. Metathoracic trochantin dark brown. Legs yellow with apex of tibiae and areas of tarsi dark brown; coxae with dark brown areas. Pygofer, in lateral view, well produced posteriorly, narrowed toward subacute apex; with setae mostly along ventral margin; without processes. Subgenital plates, in ventral view, triangular, narrowing slightly toward rounded apex; with setae distributed mostly over posterior twothirds. Styles, in dorsal view, extending farther posteriorly than apex of connective; without preapical lobe; with few lateral setae on preapical portion; apex blunt. Connective, in dorsal view, Yshaped; arms short; stalk very broad, without median keel. Aedeagus, in lateral view, slightly curved dorsally; with pair of basal lateroventral processes extending approximately as far posteriorly as shaft apex and with single median ventral process slightly exceeding shaft apex; gonoduct distinct, gonopore apical. Dorsal apodemes of aedeagus with pair of short spiniform processes. Female genitalia (based on one paratype ). Abdominal sternite VII, in ventral view, moderately produced posteriorly; posterior margin concave medially and with small fold directed dorsally; surface with setae mostly on posterior twothirds. Pygofer, in lateral view, produced posteriorly, with slight preapical concavity on ventral margin; surface with setae mostly on posterior portion, extending anteriorly along ventral margin and occupying a large area of basal portion; apex rounded (pygofer as in D. eliasi sp. nov. , Fig. 10 ). Second valvulae of ovipositor, in lateral view, broadened beyond basal curvature, narrowing toward acute apex; without preapical prominence; ventral margin with slight concavity on apical third; teeth mostly subtriangular, extending from expanded basal portion to apical portion; denticles on most teeth and on apical portion (mostly on dorsal margin) of shaft (second valvulae as in D. eliasi , Figs 11–13 ). Intraspecific variation (based on all male and female paratypes ). The anterior margin of crown may be slightly angulate; the ocelli may be aligned with the anterior eye angles or slightly behind them. Pronotum with lateral margins varying from approximately parallel to convergent anteriorly, its disc with yellow, greenishyellow or green maculae. Forewings with greenishyellow or green maculae. Anepistenum with posteroventral margin sometimes not bordered by dark brown. The median ventral aedeagal process may not exceed the apex of shaft ( Fig. 16 ); dentiform projections may be present on the aedeagal lateroventral processes. Type material. Brazil , Pará State.
