Taxon Expedition participants 12.March.2018 (1)L . Remarks This undoubtedly new species is represented by a single female specimen in our collection from the light trap at Tawau River. It appears most similar in proportion, elytral shape and size to Grouvellinus borneensis sp. nov. , but differs externally by the bluish-purple metallic shine and a more rugose pronotum. It possesses the distinct rugulose elongate elytral patches between intervals 1 and 3 as also seen in females of the former species (comp. Figures 8 , 16 (b)). CL: 1.7 mm ; EW: 0.8 mm . Due to the lack of male specimens and their aedeagi as the most distinctive morphological character,we refrain from a formal description. However, we provide an mtDNA barcode for comparison with any additional material to be described in the future: LR738837 .The barcode of this specimen varies at least 14.6% from all other known Grouvellinus species of Borneo.
