Description. Shell ( Figs 3 D; 5A, B). Small, with short spire and sub-globose shape. Whorls with slightly angulate periphery, moderately shouldered underneath suture. Axial ribs moderately pronounced. Colour horn to light brown. Genitalia ( Fig. 6 D). Penis about half as long as anterior part of oviduct (= vagina and free oviduct). Inner penial wall supporting complex sculpture, with series of folds surrounding the opening to vas deferens forming a collar, posteriorly with three corrugated, wide, longitudinal pilasters, anteriorly with numerous, narrow longitudinal pilasters extending into atrium. Vaginal length equivalent to ¾ of penis and free oviduct. Spermoviduct 3.5 times longer than free oviduct and almost twice as long as albumen gland. Remarks: Shell colour as variable as A. crassicostata . Shell smaller, flatter and with fewer whorls than other congeners. Sculpture similar to that of A. rotunda and with fewer but more pronounced axial ribs than other congeners except A. crassicostata . Inner penial wall sculpture similar to that of A. buffonenis and A. pallida but with more developed transverse folds on lateral pads. This is Solem’s (1991) manuscript species ‘NSP 80’.
