Body uniformly including all legs yellow; antennal segments I to II yellow, III to V yellow with distal third pale brown to brown, VI brown with basal half pale, VII brown; fore wings uniformly pale prominent body setae shaded. Head ( Fig. 218 ) rounded at cheeks, weakly sculptured within ocellar triangle; mouthcone very long and slender, reaching mesothorax, and with slender maxillary palpi. Ocellar setae III lateral to fore ocellus. Postocular setae I and III subequal in length, much longer than longitudinal diameter of a hind ocellus, setae II and IV minute. Antennae ( Fig. 219 ) 7-segmented, segments rounded at each side, II with some microtrichial rows on dorsal surface; III to VI without apical neck; VI the longest. Pronotum ( Fig. 218 ) sculptured with transverse striae, with 25–29 discal setae; posteroangular setae 2 pairs; posteromarginal setae 3 pairs, setae I the longest. Mesonotum with CPS anteromedially. Metascutum ( Fig. 220 ) sculptured with longitudinal or often anastomosing striae at middle, except anteromedially; median pair of setae behind anterior margin; CPS present. Fore wing first vein with seven and three distal setae. Abdominal tergites III to VIII with no lines extending to mesad of S1 setae; tergites II to VIII with S2 setae not reaching posterior margin of each tergite; tergite II with 4 lateral marginal setae; tergite VIII with posteromarginal comb complete; tergite IX with 2 pairs of CPS; sternites without discal setae; sternite I with some microsetae anteromedially; sternite VII with S1 setae far from posterior margin; pleurotergites without discal setae and ciliate microtrichia. Male macroptera . Antennal segment VI slightly many setae at dorsal surface than in female. Abdominal tergite VIII ( Fig. 221 ) with posteromarginal comb complete; tergite IX with S1 setae at level of S2 setae and subequal in length to S2 setae, their bases equidistant; sternites III to VII ( Fig. 222 ) each with an oval pore plate. This species breeds on Artemisia leaves. Comments . This species is here newly recorded from Japan . It is very similar to T. palmi but can be distinguished from that species by the unusually long mouth-cone.
