Type locality: “ Liban , Zgharta, Horsh Ehden Nat. Res. 1350-1500 m , 8-16.VI.1999 , leg. P. Rapuzzi; Sidon, Barouk, 4.VI.1999 , P. Rapuzzi” ( Platia 2001: 68 ). Distribution. A: Lebanon ( Cate 2007 ), Syria ( Platia & Gudenzi 2007 ). Remarks. The female was described from Lebanon ( Platia 2001 ), and the male from Syria ( Platia & Gudenzi 2007 ). Fresh material is known from the ancient cedar forest of Bcharre. Larvae were found in red-rotten Cedar logs, together with larva of Lacon punctatus ( Herbst, 1779 ) . Collecting and rearing Ampedus larvae resulted three more specimens with the following data: “ LEBANON , Northern gov., Ehden, Horsh Ehden Natural Reserve, reared from Pinus , 34°18’33”N , 35°59’14”E , 1525 m , 19.VI.-VII. 2016 , leg. A. Kotán, P. Nemes & T. Németh” (1, HNHM); “ LEBANON , Northern gov., Tannourine env., 2 km N Harissa, Tannourine Cedars Nat. Reserve, reared from hollow Quercus , 34°12’34”N , 35°55’45”E , 1750 m , 1.V.-VII.2017 , leg. A. Kotán, P. Nemes & T. Németh (No. 30) (2, HNHM). These specimens with shiny pronotum and yellow body vestiture ( Fig. 56 ) probably represent an undescribed species, but without available type material of many other species in the region no conclusion is made here.
