Habitat and Biology: An eastern species with few records from the southeast, adults of these beetles are found
under bark of pine and spruce and are active during the spring, summer, and fall months in Georgia. Their biology is unknown, but they may be bark beetle predators like many other species of this genus (
Bousquet 1990
). They vector
Ceratocystis
fungal spores, which are causative agents of aspen cankers in the western United States (
Hinds 1972
). Lindgren funnel traps baited with ethanol and ultraviolet lights attract them in small numbers.
