Described from Macedonia and Turkey ( Puthz 1972c : 170), Stenus bicornis is distributed in the Balkans and Anatolia. The recent records in the very northwest of Iran (Fig. 9 ) are the first for the Iranian fauna and represent the easternmost known localities of this species. Biogeographical characterization. Due to its distribution in the northeastern Mediterranean, Stenus bicornis can be regarded as a Pontomediterranean species.
