Moskow Ova. Ispyt. Prir. Otd. Biol., 46 (5): 268 . Type Locality: Russia , Primorskii Krai, Ussuriiskii r-n., Kamenka River (specified by Pavlinov and Rossolimo (1987) . Vernacular Names: Ussuri Shrew . Synonyms: Sorex (Ognevia) kutscheruki Stroganov 1956 . Distribution: N and S Korea , NE China , and Ussuri region ( Russia ). Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc). Discussion: Placed in monotypic subgenus Ognevia by Heptner and Dolgov (1967) , who demonstrated that mirabilis is not conspecific with pacificus , as had been suggested earlier ( Bobrinskii et al., 1965 ). Hutterer (1982 b ) suggested a closer relationship with Sorex (Homalurus) alpinus because of shared derived features of genital morphology. Karyotype has 2n = 38, FN = 66 ( Zima et al., 1998 ).
