Now : Accipiter soloensis ( Horsfield, 1821 ) . See Hartert (1914 : 1163). Holotype : ZMB 860 ( Lichtenstein 1832, Nr. 49 sub “ Falco nisus ”, but nisus was later crossed out ), skin, juv., collected by Meyen in “ October ” [= 30 Sep 1831 ; Meyen 1835 : 254] at “ Manila ?” [= Jalajala , Philippines ; see below]. Type locality. Meyen (1834a: 70) stated that he collected the bird at “ Manila ” (which name he used both for the city and the island of Luzon ). In his travel report, Meyen (1835: 254) specified that he collected the bird at “ Hali-Hali ” [= Jalajala , Luzon , Philippines ; 14.35°N , 121.32°E ] . We thus ascertain the type locality as Jalajala. Remarks. Both Lichtenstein (1832) and Meyen (1834a: 70) stated that the specimen was collected in October, but Meyen (1835: 254) offered the more accurate date.
